WABASH - L. Milton "Bud" Barnett, 85, of Wabash, died at 11:25 p.m. May 3, 2007, at Wabash Skilled Care Center.

He was born Nov. 20, 1921, in Wabash, to Milton and Ethel M. Votaw Barnett. On Aug. 9, 1941, in Wabash, he married Ruth Stouffer, who survives.

He was the first baby born in Wabash County Hospital after it relocated to East Street in Wabash. He was a 1939 graduate of Linlawn High School and attended Manchester College. He worked for Container Corp. of Wabash for 18 years, and was a founding partner of Wabash Papar Coating/Mafcota from 1963-1986, retiring after 21 years. He had a tremendous sense of humor and was an all-around handyman. He enjoyed working with brass and feeding birds.

Also surviving are a a daughter, Joan Younce, Warsaw; a grandson, Michael R. (and wife Ann) Younce, Superior, Colo.; a granddaughter, Mrs Ryan (Emily B.) Kennedy, Bloomington; a great-granddaughter, Alexandra Younce, Superior, Colo.; three great-grandsons: Matthew Younce, Superior, Colo., and Cade and Ian Kennedy, both of Bloomington; two sisters: Virginia Mendenhall, North Manchester, and Mary Frances Bell, Dayton, Ohio; a brother, Robert (and wife Winona) Barnett, Elwood. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Barnett.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Friends Cemetery with David Phillips officiating.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service.
