NORTH WEBSTER – L. Delores “Dee” Vanator, 85, of North Webster, passed away at 4:44 p.m. Dec. 26, 2014, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana. She was born May 3, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., to Walter and Bessie L. Burgett Dishman. On Jan. 28, 1950, in Columbia City, she married Glen A. Vanator. who preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1976. She moved to the North Webster area in 1946 from West Virginia and Kentucky and attended North Webster High School. She was a homemaker, child care provider in her home from many years, and formerly was a cook at Camp Adventure and Epworth Forest youth camps. She was a member of the North Webster Church of God, Backwater Friends Home Economics Club, North Webster American Legion Auxiliary Post #253 and former member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge, North Webster. Surviving are two daughters, Janet K. Kiser and Nancy L. Howell, both of North Webster; a son, Gary L. Vanator, North Webster; a son-in-law, Dave Rogers, Leesburg; a grandson, Zachary Rogers; two step grandsons; seven step-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-grandson. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Denise Rogers; two sons-in-law, Thomas Howell and Terry Kiser; a step-grandson, Brad Kiser; and two brothers, Richard and Robert Dishman. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Burial is in the North Webster Cemetery. Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. ***** Memorials to Arthritis Foundation, Indiana Chapter, 8660 Guion Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46268.
