I would like to thank the entire community for the overwhelming support that was shown toward “Race for Trace,” the Tracey Ann Yeager Memorial 5K which was held in Winona Lake on May 30th. Together, we were able to raise over $22,500 for the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund.

I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to all those who made this event possible including the numerous donors, sponsors, businesses who promoted and supported the event, volunteers and participants. These contributions will go a long way toward assisting people in our county who are faced with financial challenges due to a cancer diagnosis.

I received a note the other day from a cancer survivor thanking our efforts. Her family had received assistance from the Kosciusko Cancer Care Fund. She explained that the fund had impacted her life and had saved her family from becoming homeless while fighting cancer. It was very touching and made the hard work significantly worthwhile. I would like to extend this gratitude as well as the other expressions of appreciation that I have received on to everyone who made this tremendous event possible.

The “Race for Trace” itself was a terrific event featuring beautiful weather and family fun among the race’s 850+ participants.  This staggering support made “Race For Trace” one of the largest 5Ks in the entire region. As I said at the race, Tracey would not have liked all the attention, but she would have loved all the joy, excitement and friendship of the day. Most importantly, it was amazing to recognize that God had His hand in making “Race for Trace” a tremendous success through all of our efforts.

Again, thank you to this community for supporting me in my KYLA project goal of honoring Tracey Yeager, and helping to carry on her legacy of giving to others by financially assisting families struggling with cancer.
