Kubacki Seeking State Rep. Seat

Kubacki, 57, Syracuse, will run on the Republican ticket in the primary. The general election is Nov. 2.
She said she plans to file in Kosciusko County and in Indianapolis Jan. 20 for the seat.[[In-content Ad]]The seat is currently held by Republican Bill Ruppel, North Manchester.
Kubacki announced she is seeking the seat at the Dec. 15 Kosciusko County Republican Woman's Christmas party at the home of Charlene Knispel, Syracuse.
During a telephone interview this morning, she said it is her first time running for a political office.
"I think this is a new chapter in my life and it is the right time to run now that my kids are grown, and I think we need more women in politics," Kubacki said.
Jean Northenor is serving as Kubacki's campaign manager. Kubacki said she selected Northenor to serve as her campaign manager because of her political experience.
"I can't ask for a better mentor than Jean," Kubacki said.
Kubacki's priorities are economic development, education and bringing to the forefront the financial needs of small communities, which she said are most often ignored and given to large cities.
"I will be the strong voice, strong advocate and strong representative that intends to get things done," Kubacki said.
She is the wife of Mike Kubacki, CEO and president of Lake City Bank.
In a statement, she said she has always strived to make an impact in the organizations for which she has served and the communities where she has lived. She intends to make a positive impact as a hard-working representative for the district.
She was honored in 2006 as the Woman of the Year by the Warsaw-Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce for service to the community.
She also was recently honored by the Kosciusko Literacy Services for nine years of service. In addition, she has served on many boards throughout the county.
She has been appointed to serve on the Literacy Services of Kosciusko County, Syracuse Public Library, Wawasee Area Conservancy, Symphony of the Lakes Orchestra, United Way of Kosciusko County, Warsaw Biblical Gardens, Tri-Kappa, Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau Commission, Fort Wayne Zoo and is an Indiana State Museum trustee.
Fundraising accomplishments include founder of the Red Ball Gala for the American Red Cross of Kosciusko County, Author Dinner for the Literacy Services of Kosciusko County, Music In The Garden Series of the Warsaw Biblical Gardens and Symphony of the Lakes Orchestra.
She also has accomplished fundraising efforts for the Cancer Care Fundraising Committee for The Cancer Care Fund Gala of Kosciusko County, Ivy Tech Capital Campaign and Fort Wayne Zoo Capital Campaign committees.
