Kosciusko Saddle Club Plans St. Jude's Ride

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

By Staff Report-

Kosciusko County Saddle Club announces that the 1999 St. Jude Ride will be open to all riders this year. Participants do not have to be club members for this 10-mile charity ride planned Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m. The course will start in a gravel pit so there will be plenty of parking. Groups will proceed on roads around lakes and through country back roads, fields and woods. All riders with different degrees of experience will be assisted by club members. The ride is designed to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital while having fun in the process.

Groups will be divided into three levels. Group one will be fast walkers, but no running; group two will be medium speed horses; group 3 will be slow horses (people with carts will be in this class).

Riders can ride either day or both days if they choose. There will be primitive camping on adjoining land owned by Terry Hand for anyone wanting to spend the night.

Directions to the starting point are: Ind 15 south of Warsaw to CR 900S, west on CR 900S to end of road, north on CR 500W and go about 1 mile and watch for signs.

Pledge sheets will be available the day of the ride or call 267-5108. For everyone's safety, there will be flaggers and other traffic control, EMS and a farrier for emergency shoe repair. Participants are asked to bring their own food.

A tack auction will be Saturday after the ride with proceeds going to St. Jude's. Pledge money can be turned in the day of the ride or it will be due at the Nov. 14 meeting.

For information about the ride or to donate items for the auction, contact Larry Hanes at 267-5108 or e-mail at [email protected]. [[In-content Ad]]
