Kosciusko Leadership Academy students presented their White Paper projects at their final session Tuesday at the County Annex in Warsaw.

Sponsors, alumni, area residents and a number of local officials attended this event. There were eight White Paper projects that addressed various needs in Kosciusko County.

The projects included developing a critical incident stress management team to combat the after-effects of traumatic events for first responders, proposing fundraising and educational opportunities for the Kosciusko Cancer Care Fund, developing a safe and accessible prescription drug disposal plan, examining the feasibility of a splashpad and limitless playground in the Winona Lake Park, creating awareness and raising funds for a countywide simulcast system for broadcasting in emergencies, addressing barriers to non-profits sharing services and creating a model for them to follow to make their money go further, communicating the importance of financial literacy in children and proposing initiatives to build on an existing financial literacy foundation already in place, and extending the Lakes Festival into a second day and a second lake by creating a new annual activity known as a “Messabout” at Winona Lake.

Judges for the Project Proud session were Suzie Light, executive director of Kosciusko County Community Foundation; Brad Bishop, executive director of OrthoWorx; and Jean Northenor, co-founder of KLA.

A winner will be selected and announced at the KLA graduation banquet April 26 at the Champagne Jam (previously known as the 2517 Banquet Center) in Warsaw. The guest speaker for the evening will be David Floyd, CEO of OrthoWorx.[[In-content Ad]]
