WINONA LAKE – Kids Market Inc., a non-profit organization with 501c3 status, will hold its semi-annual sale this month at Rodeheaver Auditorium in Winona Lake.
The public sale is Sept. 28 from 8 a.m.to 2:30 p.m. The half-off sale follows from 3 to 5 p.m.
The volunteer pre-sale is Sept. 27 from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by the consignor pre-sale from 6 to 8 p.m.
People can pick up unsold items Sept. 29 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Sellers can drop off gently used maternity and children’s items Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Kids Market Inc. aims to help the women and children of Kosciusko County by holding two consignment sales each year, in March and September.
Kids Market’s favorite time comes after the sale, when the families the organization has adopted come and get clothing for free; when the organizations come to collect their boxes of donated items; when stories are shared about how this sale has helped the women and children that live in the community; and when the organization meets with local non-profits to make financial donations to their organizations.
Kids Market has found organizations locally that align with their mission, and the organization is thankful for the work these people are doing for families in Kosciusko County. The average number of items sold in the spring sales is 22,400, with 400 consignors.
After the bills are paid and budgeted for the next sale, the money left over is given away. In 2011 Kids Market donated more than $25,000 to non-profits.
After the March 2013 sale, Kids Market donated $12,750 to the following charities: Fellowship Mission Homeless Shelter, CCS Project Independence, Heartline and BABE, Baker Youth Club, Beaman Home, Lakeland Youth Center, North Webster Community Center, Teen Parents Succeeding and the YMCA Camp Little Eagle Scholarship Fund.
Since the first sale in fall 2001, Kids Market has donated over $122,000 to local organizations.
The following booths will be present at the Sept. 28 sale: April Moore Creations, Bubblegum Crochet, Thirty-One Gifts, Music for Life, Lake City Music Together, Cute as a Button Boutique, Simply Folded Roses, Healthy Families, CASA, Kosciusko County Head Start, WIC and many more.
The deadline for becoming a consignor for the sale is Sept. 25.
