MENTONE - Kermit M. Zent, 74, of 7611 E. CR 600N, Rochester, died at 4:39 a.m. May 26, 2007, in Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. He was seriously ill for four days.

He was born Feb. 14, 1933, in Fulton County, to R. Earl and Elma Bybee Zent. On July 22, 1951, in Mentone, he married Nellie L. Christian, who died Dec. 31, 2003. On Nov. 19, 2005, in Mentone, he married Joan Welborn, who survives.

A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer and worked at Craig Welding & Manufacturing, Mentone, for several years, and worked part-time at Niff-Corr Inc., Tippecanoe. He was a very faithful member of First Baptist Church, Mentone, and a member of Fulton County Historical Power Association. He enjoyed his farm and showing his restored tractors in shows and parades. He was a 1951 Talma High School graduate.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Sherry) Flenar, Columbia City, and Suzie Zent, Tipton; two stepsons, Ernie (and wife Bonnie) Welborn, Milwaukee, and Gary (and wife Sharon) Welborn, Bourbon; five grandchildren, Scott and Marisa Jones, Mrs. Matt (Sarah) Rose and Amanda and Adam Felnar; two great-grandchildren, Greg and Genna Rose; four step-grandchildren, Amy Middaugh, Alissa Worsham, Brent (and wife Amy) Welborn and Mrs. Dan (Kristin) McKendrek; six step-great-grandchildren, Tucker Everett Worsham, Maclain and Samantha Middough and Bennett, Eve and Johanna Welborn; and a sister, Mrs. Ron (Louise) Gillum, Mesa, Ariz.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Pastors Michael Wilhite and Brad McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Sycamore Cemetery, southwest of Mentone.
