He was born May 23, 1929, in Nappanee, to Alton and Dessie Klingaman Troup. On Feb. 1, 1953, he married Donna M. Rhoades, who died Oct. 8, 2009. He then married LaWanda Carpenter Lung on Dec. 26, 2010. She survives.
A lifetime area resident, he graduated from Milford High School in 1947, and he served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-52 on the U.S.S. Hollister in the Pacific near Korea and China. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Goshen, and volunteered with the Lifeline Program at Goshen General Hospital. He worked at NIBCO for 25 years as a supervisor of productions and retired from Universal Co-op.
Also surviving are two daughters, Coni McCloughen, Elkhart, and Angela (and spouse Michael) Taylor, Goshen; two sons, Ronald Troup, Goshen, and Randy Troup, Syracuse; a stepdaughter, Stacy Lung, Lakeland, Fla.; a stepson, Scott (and spouse Molly) Lung, Goshen; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; and two brothers, Dean Troup and Evar (and spouse Mary Ellen) Troup, all of Milford. He was preceded in death by a grandson and a brother.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dick Rinearson officiating. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen, with full military honors by members of Goshen Veterans Organizations.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
