COLUMBIA CITY - Keith E. "Sonny" Cleland, 82, of rural Larwill, died at 10:15 p.m. Nov. 23, 2010, in Miller's Merry Manor, where he was a resident since September.
He was born July 30, 1928, in Columbia City, to Carl and Ester Cleland. On Feb. 14, 1959, he married Joyce A. Menzie, who survives.
After graduating from Columbia City High School, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a corporal in the Korean War. He worked at Whitley Products, Columbia City, then Pierceton for 45 years. He retired as a foreman in 1989. He was a member of American Legion Post 98.
Also surviving are two children, Debbie Thornhill, New Castle, and David Cleland, South Whitley; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
