He was born in Auburn to Lawrence William and Helen Humbert Wagner.
He wintered in Florida and spent summers in Indiana. He worked for Medtronic in Warsaw before retiring in 2000.
He was a 1948 graduate of St. Joe High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his service to his country, he attended Tri State College and received his bachelor’s degree in 1960.
Surviving are four daughters: Kathy (and spouse Douglas) Smith, Grand Prairie, Texas; Sheryl (and spouse Steven) Goddard, Gibraltar, Mich.; Terry (and spouse Eric) McLaughlin, Mundelein, Ill.; and Kerry Pirhonen, Los Angeles, Calif.; six grandchildren; his siblings, Amy Houser, Pleasant Lake, and Joseph (and spouse Carolyn) Wagner, Thorntown; a sister-in-law, Betty Wagner; and longtime companion, Rose Norman. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Merle Wagner.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with the Rev. Leroy Wise officiating. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
