KDI, Chamber Hear From IPFW Researcher

John Stafford, IPFW Community Research Institute, spoke to the group, which met at the Ivy Tech Orthopedic and Advanced Manufacturing Training Center, Warsaw. Stafford discussed employment statistics.[[In-content Ad]]Stafford said that due to the orthopedic industry, the overwhelming majority of business in Kosciusko County is in the manufacturing field.
He also said that population growth in the county has trailed state and federal numbers over the last four to five years.
And that despite an increase in international migration, those moving to Kosciusko County from other counties is less than surrounding counties.
The per capita income for the county in 2007, the most recent year where statistics were available, was just under $35,000 per person. That ranks Kosciusko County the 12th highest in the state.
KDI, which recently moved to a quarterly meeting format, went over a list of preliminary committee members that will meet monthly.
Both KDI and the Chamber approved the minutes from their last meetings and went over financial reports.
The Chamber of Commerce approved three new members at Wednesday's meeting.
Big Apple Bagels, Warsaw, along with State Farm and Warsaw Breakfast Optimist were added to the Chamber.
KDI will hold its next meeting Sept. 23 at the Milford Community Building. The next Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors meeting will be Aug. 25.
