After failing to ship a product after receiving payment, a Missouri woman has been arrested for felony level theft and fraud.
On Tuesday morning, Michelle Davis, 34, Warrensburg, Mo., was arrested by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
On March 20, Kosciusko County resident Tim Walters told KCSD that he bought a Remington 700, .30-36 caliber rifle on Armslist.com from Davis. The two agreed that Walters would pay $1,000 now and $350 at a later date, according to the probable cause affidavit provided by Kosciusko County prosecutors.
Walter told police that on March 13, he obtained a cashier’s check for $1,000 from PNC Bank and sent that check to Davis. That check was cashed on March 16.
Walter had not received the firearm by April 2, after sending numerous emails to Davis, who advised she would send it. Central Missouri Community Credit Union in Warrensburg confirmed that Davis cashed the cashier’s check.
Davis was booked into Kosciusko County Jail with a $6,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
