KCCF 'Idol Night' Is May 21

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

Attention Kosciusko County - it's time to name your "idol" and help out a good cause.

On May 21st, some of Kosciusko County's most talented singers will take the Wagon Wheel stage for Idol Night: Sing For Support to benefit the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund.

Diane McGarvey, one of the organizers for the annual event, said that Idol Night is the only fundraising event in the area that is family friendly. There will be kid-friendly activities during the event, and there also will be an opportunity for children to learn a dance and possibly perform onstage.

Tickets are available now for the event, which will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and cost $12 for adults and children 12 and under will be admitted for $7. This year there will be assigned seating, and McGarvey said she expects a sellout.

Six women and six men have already been chosen to compete for the title of Kosciusko Idol. Local "celebrities" who will participate are Karyn Brumbaugh, Ivory West, Tammy Robinson, Cindy Reinholt, Bonnie Bradley, Krista Bragg, Steve Teager, Steven Carroll Miller, Jerry Ferguson, David Blakemore, Patrick Norman and Dan Ferrell.

There also will be a competition for "Future Idols." Last year's winner, Ava Knight, will sing, as will Rachel Boyle, Bryce Lippe and Leigh Ann Shrack.

Votes are $1 each, and there are no limits to the number of times someone may vote for their favorite performer.

This year's event also will have Kosciusko County's version of American Idol's judges. Trevor Cracknell will be Warsaw's version of Simon Cowell, while Julie Harvey and Ingrid Riley will do their best impressions of Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi, respectively. Warsaw Community High School basketball standout Nic Moore will serve as Kosciusko County's Randy Jackson. Ryan Seacrest's role as host will be filled by Matt Niemier.

Last year, the event raised $25,000 for the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund. This year, each candidate has been given a fundraising packet and have been encouraged to raise moeny prior to the event.

"Even if someone cannot make it to the event, they can still donate to the singer," McGarvey said.

All proceeds from the fundraiser go directly to the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund, which is dedicated to reducing the challenges facing cancer patients and their families by financially assisting them during their fight.
