Kauffman Named IIAI Director Of Year

The Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana announced the 2007 IIAI Achievement Award recipients at a ceremony and dinner at the Westin Hotel in Indianapolis Nov. 10. The recipient of the IIAI 2007 Director of the Year Award is Byron C. Kauffman, CLU, CPCU, ChFC, president, Wetzel Insurance Agency Inc., North Manchester and Warsaw.

A native of North Manchester Kauffman earned a bachelor's degree in economics at DePauw University; graduated with a master's in business administration from the M.J. Neeley Graduate School of Business, Texas Christian University; and he holds the following insurance industry professional designations: Chartered Life underwriter; Chartered Property Casualty underwriter; and Chartered Financial consultant.

Kauffman and his wife, Jane, reside in Warsaw with their three children Brynn, 6; Gramm, 9; and Tripp, 10. He has been active in The Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana since 1993. Wetzel Insurance Agency Inc., established in 1916, has offices in North Manchester and Warsaw.

The Director of the Year Award recognizes outstanding achievement of an individual agent serving as a director on the IIAI Board of Directors. Because of his high level of input and participation on the IIAI Board, Kauffman was voted as this year's recipient of this award by his peers serving on the IIAI Board.
