BOURBON – Kathryn “Kay” Weissert, 88, of Tippecanoe, passed away unexpectedly at 5:11 p.m. Feb. 16, 2012, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
She was born Nov. 7, 1923, in Bourbon Township, Marshall County, to Ralph and Lois Hite Reed. On April 28, 1945, she married Kenneth LaMar Weissert, who died Jan. 2, 1981.
A lifetime area resident, she was a 1941 graduate of Bourbon High School and attended South Bend Business College of Commerce. She worked at St. Joseph Bank and Trust Co., South Bend, prior to her marriage. 
She farmed all her life along with her husband and son, who operated Weissert Dairy Farm. She was active keeping books and with daily farming operations. She was a very active person belonging to Daughters of the American Revolution, Tippecanoe Home Economics Club, Marshall County Historical Society Board of Directors and a past member of the Marshall County Past Presidents Club. She enjoyed genealogy, dairy farming, cooking and baking for her famous family dinners, flowers and gardening and her companion, her cat. She was an avid Notre Dame fan and a member of Bourbon First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Cathy (and spouse Marvin) Overmyer, Rochester, Pam (and spouse Tim) Beam, Maineville, Ohio; a son, Michael (and spouse Cathy) Weissert, Tippecanoe; three grandchildren: Melissa (and spouse Paul) Rosswurm; Amanda (and spouse Michael) McHugh; and Brian Beam; two step-grandchildren, Rick (and spouse Teresa) Overmyer, and Mike and (and spouse Deborah) Overmyer; four great-grandchildren: Evan, Renee, Claire and Lucas Rosswurm; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Scherrer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with the Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
