Karen Sue Loher, 59, of 1106 Chestnut Ave., Winona Lake, died at 7:35 a.m. May 4, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, after a lengthy battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis and cancer.

She was born April 11, 1951, in South Bend, to David A. and DonnaBelle Snyder Welborn. On June 5, 1971, she married David E. Loher, who survives.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she was a member of Leesburg Grace Brethren Church since she was 3. She graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1969, and South Bend Memorial School of Nursing in 1972. She was a registered nurse at Murphy Medical Center for many years. She was a member of Lake City Sams-Camping Club and Kosko Kamping Klub, Warsaw.

Also surviving are a son, Mike Loher, Warsaw; a daughter, Michelle Hershberger, Winona Lake; a special daughter, R. J. Jennings, Winona Lake; her mother, DonnaBelle Welborn, Warsaw; two sisters, Carol (and spouse Dennis) Bennema, Downers Grove, Ill., and Cindy (and spouse Neil) Houser, Kasilof, Alaska; and a brother, Ken (and spouse Jean) Welborn, Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her father, David A. Welborn, who died in 2004; a sister, Christine Klotz, who died in 2001; and a son-in-law, Rob Hershberger, who died in 2005.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastors Tom Miller and Tim Sprankle officiating.

Calling is from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
