MICHIGAN CITY - Karen J. O'Connell, 61, of Long Beach, Ind., and Chicago, Ill., passed away July 13, 2008, in her Long Beach residence.

She was born Sept. 15, 1946, in Chicago, to Marcos and Nancy Haigwood Udaundo. On Jan. 8, 1999, in Cancun, Mexico, she married Thomas L. O'Connell III, who survives. He was formerly of Warsaw.

She enjoyed traveling and was an accomplished art collector/dealer who had worked for Circle Gallery, Chicago. She retired as a psychotherapist/marriage counselor, having had a private practice in Chicago.

Also surviving are three sons, Jason Princivalli, Chicago; Shawn (and spouse Audrey) O'Connell and Thomas L. O'Connell IV, both of Albuquerque, N.M; two granddaughters, Faith and Taylor O'Connell, both of Albuquerque; her mother-in-law, Lila O'Connell, Pierceton; two brothers-in-law, Pat (and spouse Jonell) O'Connell and Jim O'Connell, both of Warsaw; five sisters-in-law: Carolyn (and spouse Jon) Bumbaugh, Houston, Texas; Kathy (and spouse John) Slattery, Chester, N.J.; Laura (and spouse Arden) Grow, Claypool; and Tammy Lukens (and Randy Barber) and Teresa O'Connell (and Joe Neer), both of Pierceton; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1000 Moore Road, Long Beach. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 1015 Greenwood Ave., Michigan City.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City.
