Cricket and Maxine Kammerer will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 6, 2011.

Cricket and the former Maxine Baker were married Jan. 6, 1961, in Folkston, Ga., by a justice of the peace on the return trip from a family vacation in Florida.

Both shared a love of horses, actually meeting on horseback in a pasture in 1960. They owned and operated a horse and carriage business (along with their full-time jobs) after marrying. They appeared in many local parades over the years.

Maxine had a grown son, Gordon Sand, who she raised from a previous marriage after becoming a widow. He passed away in 1994.

A personal celebration between the couple is planned.

Cards may be sent to them at P.O. Box 235, Leesburg, IN 46538.[[In-content Ad]]
