K21 Foundation President Rich Haddad made the announcement Monday during a reception at the Ramada Plaza in Warsaw.
The building is planned initially for 30,000 square feet with some ability for future expansion.[[In-content Ad]]Final design documents are currently being completed before the project is released for contract bidding.
A March groundbreaking is planned. K21 hopes to open the facility in March 2009. The cost of the project is projected at $5 million.
"The idea of this building has been floating around the community for many years, but it took a big commitment from the K21 board and a significant amount of cooperation from each of the tenant organizations and their boards," Haddad said.
The two-story building will be called the K21 Health Services Pavilion and will be located on the north end of the Kosciusko Community Hospital campus.
It will include an open lobby area and a waiting room. It also will feature conference rooms for K21 board members and organizations to meet that will seat up to 60 people, Haddad said.
The planned tenants for the building are all non-profit organizations that offer health-related services to people in Kosciusko County.
The current plans include Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, the Women, Infants, Children program, Medication and Dental Assistance Program, Heartline Pregnancy Center and their Teens 'N' Tots Day Care Center.
Other tenants will include the Health Care Foundation and their BABE Boutique, and the Well Child and the county health department's immunization clinics.
There also will be two financial assistance programs planning to locate at the building, including The Good Samaritan Fund administered by the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, and the Cancer Care Fund administered by K21 Foundation.
K21 Foundation owns an undeveloped parcel in the area, which will continue to promote the campus as a primary location for health services to be met.
"We are blessed to have the K21 Foundation in our community and the other organizations that that will be located under one roof to provide services to our community," Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins said.
Suzie Light, K21 executive director, agreed the pavilion will benefit the community.
"The spirit of cooperation and working together to help people in our county is represented well in seeing this project go from a good idea for years to a reality," Light said.
Rick Paczkowski, executive director of Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, said a new facility has been needed for some time.
"As our services and organization have grown well beyond our current location to the point where it is limiting what we can do for the community, this will give us a chance to grow and address the needs of the community in a greater way," Paczkowski said.
