By Staff Report-

K21 Foundation recently granted $60,000 to Cardinal Center toward the expansion of services offered to families.

A new birth coordinator, whose goal is to provide all birth families with "baby basic care" information and community resources, has been made possible by the foundation's grant.

The intent of this program is to help families have vibrant emotional interactions with their newborns.

This program will incorporate a community "Baby Help Line," a phone number designed to take messages and to answer pertinent basic baby care questions. There will also be a Web site. The program will enhance a parent's information about child development.

This grant project will affect more than 650 families while they are still receiving services at the hospital and will allow Cardinal Center to reach more families in need of children's services.
