An overnight break-in led to charges of burglary and theft being brought against a local 16-year-old.

The Warsaw Police Department responded to an alarm at the Speedway gas station, 823 E. Winona Ave., at 1:38 a.m. today. The front door had been pried open and approximately $200 in cigarettes was stolen.

Officers, using K-9 units, tracked the suspect to a home in the 900 block of East Market Street. Once there, officers found a 16-year-old boy at home without parental supervision.

After being interviewed both at home and at WPD, the youth admitted his involvement. He was released to a parent.

Juvenile charges of burglary and theft were referred to the Kosciusko County prosecutor and probation department. The 16-year-old was found to be currently on juvenile probation for a prior unrelated burglary and theft.

The Warsaw Police Department was assisted by officers from the Winona Lake Police Department and the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.[[In-content Ad]]
