She was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Winona Lake, to George and Naomi Campbell Pifer. On Sept. 19, 1953, she married Irvin Rhoads, who died Jan. 11, 1978.
She was a 1949 graduate of Warsaw High School, and had lived in Loudonville since 1953. She was the owner of Rhoads Jeweler of Loudonville since 1957 when she and her husband purchased the Carey Jewelry Store. She retired in May 2012 after 55 years of ownership.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Loudonville, the Loudonville-Mohican Area Chamber of Commerce, and she had previously been a Jayceette. She loved to fish, especially for blue gill, and to sit by a peaceful lake.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda (and spouse Jack) Briscoe, Loudonville; two sons, Mark (and spouse Reda) Rhoads, Cincinnati, and Ron Rhoads, Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren: David Storie, Michael Rhoads and Jessica Couts; and one great-granddaughter, Rose Marie Rhoads. She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; five brothers: Paul, Wayne, Cliff, Gene and Gerald Pifer; and a sister, Ruth Cramer.
Services were Jan. 7 in St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Vincent Hawk officiating. Burial was in Loudonville Cemetery.
