Ronnie E. Denham, 37, Old Ind. 15, Warsaw, was sentenced to two years incarcerated with one year suspended and on probation for a battery incident from Oct. 3. Kosciusko County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Katy Hampton noted Denham’s prior criminal history and said the incident in this case was “extremely violent.”
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s office, the victim spoke to an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. The victim stated Denham was angry with her and he followed her to the bedroom and threw her into a glass door, causing one of the doors to shatter. He then punched her in the face, the affidavit states. A friend of the victim told the officer she had to restrain Denham so the victim and her son could get out of the home. This incident happened in the presence of a child.
Denham’s attorney, Joseph Sobek, said that since the incident, “remedial steps have already been taken.” Denham and his wife divorced and she has a protective order against him.
Denham apologized for his actions and said he didn’t want to make any excuses.
Cates said Denham needs to make better choices and take anger management. He said Denham also must pay a $200 domestic violence fee and he cannot own any firearms. Denham has almost a year a credit at the jail, so he will serve a few more days and then remain on probation for the remainder of his sentence.
“I want you to consider the example you’re setting for your son,” Cates said.[[In-content Ad]]
