Warsaw's own JR's Polishing, the No. 2-ranked men's slow pitch softball team in Indiana, recently won two big tournaments recently.

First, JR's Polishing won the NSA (National Softball Association) Class A & B State Championship in Indianapolis July 6.

JR's Polishing cruised through the tournament with a pervect 4-0 mark. They defeated the previously No. 1 ranked team in the state, Scott's Auto/AAA Sports, in the finals of the winner's bracket 14-13 and in the championship game 30-18.

On Aug. 3-4 in Evansville, JR's Polishing won the ASA (American Softball Association) Class A State Championship.

JR's defeated Martin Contracting of Evansville twice to win the championship.

Needing to beat Martin twice for the title, JR's Polishing gave up 11 runs in the first inning to fall behind quickly. But JR's kept battling back and was down 20-19 in the sixth when they came up with an eight-spot to rally for the 27-23 win. JR's Polishing had beaten Martin 18-15 in the previous game.

Earlier, JR's had beaten No. 8 K & G Sports/TRS and Faith Baptist/Easton before getting beat by Martin to fall into the loser's bracket.

JR's beat ARs of Fort Wayne to set up the rematch with Martin.

JR's Polishing, now 75-20 on the season, will be in the NSA Class B World Series in Hartland, Mich. Sept. 16-18 and the ASA Class A Nationals in Jacksonville, Fla. Aug. 30-Sept. 2. [[In-content Ad]]
