SYRACUSE – Joy E. Nolan, 74, of Syracuse, died at 2 a.m. Oct. 21, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.

She was born Dec. 1, 1936, in Maples, to Fred and Opal Worden Nolan, who preceded her in death.

She was a lifetime area resident except for five years she lived in Lake Wales, Fla. She graduated in 1954 from Syracuse High School. She retired in 1999 from Johnson Controls, Goshen, after 26 years, and formerly worked at Weatherhead Corp., Syracuse, for 13 years, and Syracuse Rubber Co. for three years.

Surviving are two sisters, Peggy Felts, Syracuse, and Charlotte Nolan, Ocala, Fla.; a brother, Ned (and spouse  Nina) Nolan, Monroe, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Choey. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Scarbeary; a brother, Richard Nolan; and a nephew, Chris Scarbeary.

A memorial service will be at a later date.

Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
