NAPPANEE – Joy B. Miller, 84, of 802 S. Elm St., Nappanee, died at 3:15 a.m. Feb. 10, 2012, in Courtyard Nursing Home, Goshen, where she had been admitted four weeks ago.
She was born March 21, 1927, in Bourbon, to Arthur and Mae D. Lutes Sechrist. On May 13, 1951, in Nappanee, she married Harold Marvin Miller, who died Aug. 20, 1987.
A lifetime resident of this area, she was a graduate of Etna Green High School. She retired in 1987 after 23 years from the U.S. Postal Service. She was the first woman hired at the Nappanee Post Office. She also did seamstress work. She attended Bremen Missionary Church and was member of the Nappanee American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are five daughters: Sandy (and spouse Montel) Tusing, East Germantown; Cookie Peregrine and Patricia (and spouse Doug) Clark, all of Etna Green; Kathy (and spouse Denis) Snyder, Syracuse; and Tracy Lynn (and spouse Tim) Miller, Nappanee; a son, Harold   Marvin II (and spouse Christine) Miller, Camby; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a great-great-granddaughter and three brothers.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Gary Hinkle officiating. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
