He was born May 9, 1927, in Harrodsburg, to Hollice and Jeanette Goen Barrett. On June 20, 1948, he married Betty Morehead, who preceded him in death in 2008. In 2009, he married Elsie Hoffman, who survives in North Webster.
He retired as a sales manager for Farm Bureau Co-op, serving northern Indiana. He was a 1945 graduate of Boswell High School. He was a World War II U.S. Army era veteran, receiving victory and occupation medals. He was a longtime member of the North Webster Church of the Brethren.
Also surviving are two daughters, Holly (and spouse John) Urschalitz, Warsaw, and Amy (and spouse Joe) Coffey, Goleta, Calif.; four sons: Allen (and spouse Margaret) Barrett, Leiters Ford; Kerry (and spouse Denise) Barrett, North Webster; Rob (and spouse Bianca) Hoffman, Custer, Wis.; and Chris (and spouse Kathy) Hoffman, Prescott, Wis.; a sister, Stella Gillen, Lafayette; a brother, Tom Barret, Lafayette; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, He was preceded in death by six sisters: Catherine Jackson, Mary Waukechon, Hazel Ogden, Dorothy Newtson, Elsie McMahon, Louise Baumgardt; three brothers, Jack, Frank and Bill Barrett; a grandchild and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the North Webster Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Bob Wyman officiating. Burial will follow at the North Webster Cemetery – Mock Addition.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eastlund Funeral Home.
