SYRACUSE – Joseph Kenzel “Pops” McKnight, 80, of Syracuse, died at 6:10 a.m. March 3, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.

He was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Lexington, Okla., to John S. and Dovie Agee McKnight. On Oct. 6, 1951, in Tennessee, he married Fay M. Stewart, who died June 3, 2006.

He graduated from high school in Oklahoma in 1949. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He retired in 1986 from General Motors, St. Louis, Mo., and moved to Syracuse in January 2010 from Columbia, Ill. He was formerly affiliated with the World Wide Church of God.

Surviving are three daughters, Eva Jo (and spouse John) Blackburn, Syracuse; Sharon (and spouse Andy) White, Fort Worth, Texas; and Aleice (and spouse  Weldon) Moser, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Emma (and spouse George) Smith and Barbara Channell, all of California, and Patricia (and spouse Kenneth ) Van Cleave, Washington. He also was preceded in death by a son, two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.

Private services will be at a later date.

Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
