MARION – Joseph Graham Scrafton, 92, Marion, departed this earth Oct. 25, 2013, to be with his heavenly family.
He was born July 22, 1921, in Princes Bay, Staten Island, N.Y., to Joseph Henry and Jane Dickenson Scrafton. He was married to his wife of 64 years, Lois, who preceded him in death.
He retired in 1982 from General Motors after 36 years of service, where he worked in the tool and die/engineering department. He loved his church family, and was a member of the Converse Church of Christ.
Surviving are two daughters, Jody (and spouse Ronald) Newhouse, Greentown, and JoAnn (and spouse Richard) Helfrich, Auburn; two sons, Mark (and spouse Michelle) Scrafton, Warsaw, and Joel (and spouse Teresa) Scrafton, Leesburg; nine grandchildren: Craig (and spouse Jill) Helfrich, Fort Wayne; Kevin Helfrich, Greenville, S.C.; Bradley (and spouse Shannan) Newhouse, and Brent (and spouse Tonya) Newhouse, all of Converse; Bethany (and spouse Micah) Young, San Diego, Calif.; Jared (and spouse Kendra) Scrafton, Indianapolis; Nicole Wills and Tanner Scrafton, both of Warsaw; and Noelle (and spouse Alex) Carr, Indianapolis; 10 great-grandchildren: Bryce, Reid, Caleb, Lexie and Ellery Newhouse; Jace and Maddie Scrafton; Briggs and Lilly K. Young; and Brady Wills. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth G. Scrafton; a brother, Alfred Scrafton; and a sister, Edna Scrafton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel. 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, with Pastor John Clark officiating. Burial will be in Converse Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
