He was born Aug. 13, 1946, in Williamsport, to Joseph R. and Martha Jane Bergman Miller. Martha died three days later. He was also the son of Rita Marie Unowicz Miller, who survives. He married Janet Wiegand, who survives.
He lived in the lakes area his entire life. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1966-68, with the 3rd Recon Squad, AUS Armor, attaining the rank of SP5. He was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster. He was a lifetime employee of NIPSCO and was to retire shortly, after 43 years of service. His legacy has been his many friends who kept vigil with the family. They are a testament to the love he gave everyone and the sense of humor that accompanied him through life. That never left him, even when he knew he was dying. Everyone knew they could count of him if they needed help.
Also surviving are a sister, Jo Ann Dupont Klodzinski, Mishawaka; 12 nieces and nephews; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Zac Barber, with whom he shared the same birthday.
