He was born Dec. 1, 1953, in Warsaw, to James "Jim" and Carlyn-Wharton Baker. On Sept. 21, 2001, he married Debbie Schuman, who survives.
He was a musician.
Also surviving are his mother, Carlyn Leap, Columbia City; a son, James Baker, Fort Wayne; and two step-grandchildren, Nikoli Hand and Jillian Walker, who he and Debbie were raising. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and his stepdaughter.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Thomasville, N.C., with Tyrone Toland officiating.[[In-content Ad]]
