WABASH - John Samuel "Sam" Music, 78, of London, Ky., died at 9:05 p.m. Jan. 7, 2008, in Manchester Memorial Hospital, Clay, Ky.

He was born Dec. 11, 1929, in Floyd County, Ky., to Shade Sr. and Sara Staniford Music. In 1950, he married Margaret S. Charles, who died in 1960. In 1960, he married Lovie Hill, who died Sept. 30, 2001.

He lived in Leesburg from 1984-2003, Lagro from 2003-05 and London since 2005. After retiring from U.S. Gypsum, he was a coal miner in Daniels, Ky., from 1974-75. He was a member of Pakerton Baptist Church and attended Erie Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters: Loretta (and spouse Glenn) Harris, London; Liddie (and spouse Edward) Crace, Warsaw; and Cindy Smith and Thelma Denniston, both of Wabash; four brothers: Shade Jr. (and spouse Sally) Music, Lagro; Walker (and spouse Rose) Music, Wabash; Newt (and spouse Virginia) Music, Flapgap, Ky.; and Ray (and spouse Pricilla) Music, North Manchester; three sisters, Dorothy (and spouse John) Shephard, Dixie (and spouse Donis) Ward and Edith (and spouse James) Fletcher, all of Wabash; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home, Eddingfield Chapel, Wabash, with the Rev.Robert McCarty officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
