He was born May 26, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., to John Sr. and Evelyn Bergland LaTour. His first wife, Sandi LaTour, died in 2003. His wife, Penny LaTour, survives.
He moved to the Syracuse area in 1971 and was a retired truck driver.
Also surviving are two sons, Fred and James LaTour; four daughters: Jolinda Brown, Jenny Hathaway, Star Jones and Julie Kestner; three stepdaughters: Vanessa Earl, Star Tyson and Doshia Singer; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Juday. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Schmoldt.
No services are planned. His wishes were to be cremated.
