HIGHLAND - John J. Macnak, 93, of Crown Point, and formerly of Mountain Home, Ark., died Nov. 25, 2007.

He was born Sept. 25, 1914, in Joliet, Ill. In 1945, he married Harriet, who died in 1980. In 1990, he married Virginia, who died in 2002.

He was a former member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and St. Peter the Fisherman Church, Mountain Home. He retired from Inland Steel with 31 years of service. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific for five years in the Signal Corp.

Surviving are his children: Mary (and spouse Richard) Anderson, San Andreas, Calif.; Judy (and spouse Glen) Macnak, Juneau, Alaska; Alan (and spouse Diana) Macnak, Warsaw; Mark (and spouse Susan) Macnak, Schererville; and Dorothy Macnak, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Macnak, Mountain Home. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert, two brothers and two sisters.

A mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Ave., Hammond, with the Rev. Charles Mosley officiating. Burial will be in Catholics Cemeteries.

Calling is from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.

Kuiper Funeral Home, Highland, is in charge of arrangements.
