John H. Crum, 90, of 1408 Alpha Drive, Warsaw, died at 10 a.m. June 16, 2008, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.

He was born March 17, 1918, in Bluffton, to Hubert and Clara Sink Crum. On Nov. 29, 1942, in Waynedale, he married Beatrice Harris, who survives.

Moving to Warsaw from Uniondale 54 years ago, he was a mechanic at Menzie Motors and was owner of Crum Garage and John Crum & Associates - Distributor and Consultant - Success Motivation. He was a member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church and was an instructor at Ivy Tech, Fort Wayne, in automotive technology. He was past director and 30-year member of Warsaw Morning Optimist Club Service Corps of Retired Executives; Toastmasters, Warsaw; and Warsaw Chamber of Commerce. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving as staff sergeant in the 409th Ordinance Co.

Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Van Kovering, Warsaw, and Joyce Hislope, Elkhart; a son, Keith Crum, Fort Wayne; a sister, Alice Alexander, Bluffton; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with the Rev. Bill Burd officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
