HUNTINGTON – John E. Deemer, 82, Huntington, died at 12:20 p.m. March 24, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born March 9, 1934, in Lancaster Township, Huntington County, to Herbert and Greta Tharp Deemer. On June 14, 1953, in Huntington, he married Dorothy Gee, who preceded him in death Nov. 12, 2009. He graduated from Lancaster High School, Huntington County, in 1952 and attended Indiana-Purdue University, Fort Wayne. He served in the United States Navy as a petty officer 2nd class during the Suez Canal Conflict. He retired from Majestic Co., Huntington, after 46 years of service in quality control and consumer relations; prior, he worked at Pulley-Kellam, Huntington. He was a member of Central Christian Church, Huntington, for 63 years and of Moose Lodge 318. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 483 F & M for 50 years and a member of American Legion Post 7. He was formerly a member of Starlight Dancers and Red Cross, and of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 29 years. Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia K. (and spouse Mark) Foust, Fort Wayne; one brother, Richard E. (and spouse Joan) Deemer, Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Lou (and spouse Rex) Larkey, Roanoke, and Ruth Ann (and spouse Larry) Berryhill, Warren; two grandsons, Brian A. Foust and Matthew E. Foust; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Christopher E. Deemer; one brother, Phillip Deemer; and one sister, Rosemary Deemer. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Chris Hayden and Dr. Sam Young officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County.
