BOURBON - John B. Benedict, 88, of Mason Health and Rehab, Warsaw, died at 7:25 a.m. Sept. 29, 2008.

He was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Denver, Ind., to Roscoe and Thelma Hooker Benedict.

An Argos and Bourbon area resident most of his life, he had many interests and hobbies, including crocheting, knitting, fishing, working crossword puzzles and especially spending time with his great-grandchildren. He was a retired truck driver, working at Orthopedic Co., Bourbon; Korth Furniture and American Home Center, both in Warsaw; as well as other local trucking companies. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are three children, Danny (and spouse Carolyn) Benedict, Benny Benedict and Susan (and spouse Devon) Craig, all of Bourbon; a grandchild, Shawn (and spouse David) Gargis, Warsaw; great-grandchildren, Brittny, Brogan and Briley Gargis, all of Warsaw; and a step-grandson, Kevin Ludwig, Bourbon. He was preceded in death by his wife, four sisters and a brother.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, with the Rev. Doug West officiating, and with military graveside honors.
