Attention Purdue alumni, fans, family and friends, Joe Tiller is coming to town.

The Purdue head football coach will roll into town May 1 at the First Annual Banquet of the newly formed Purdue Club of Kosciusko County.

The event will take place the the Center Lake Pavilion with social time beginning at 6 p.m. and a Penguin Point catered dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tiller's program will follow.

Tickets are $20 for PCKC member, $25 for non-members and $10 for students (ages 2-10) and reservations should be made by April 21.

Proceeds from the banquet will go toward a scholarship fund for area students.

Tiller took over a football program at Purdue University in 1997 that had only one winning season and no bowl appearances since 1984.

Since then Tiller has led the Boilermakers to six consecutive bowl appearances, five winning seasons and a Big Ten Championship (2000).

In his six years with Purdue, Tiller has racked up an impressive 46-28 record with a .622 winning percentage. He became the second-winningest football coach in Purdue University history for all games as well as Big Ten games.

Tiller is second only to Jack Mollenkopf coached from 1956-1969 with 84 overall wins and 57 Big Ten wins.

The Purdue Club of Kosciusko County was formed last fall and is welcome to any Boilermaker fan. People do not need to be an alumni to join the club. Membership costs $15 per family.

Along with the banquet, the club has several activities planned for the rest of the year. The Boilermaker Special will appear in the City Of Lakes Festival Parade June 21. A golf outing is in the planning stages, and the club will get together to watch at least one football game, and if there is enough interest a tailgating trip to West Lafayette is a possibility as well.

The club also plans to go head-to-head against the Indiana Hoosier alumni group in Salvation Army bell ringing this year as well.

The goals of the Purdue Club of Kosciusko are to provide fun and fellowship for members, provide scholarships for area youth, and provide service for the community.

Club officers are: President Kraig Allen, Vice-president Amy Craft, Treasurer Lee Ann Jaeger and Secretary Janelle Wilson.
