NAPPANEE - Jimmy L. "Jim" Newcomer, 78, of 255 Morningside Drive, Nappanee, died at 8:10 a.m. Aug. 28, 2007, at Bremen Healthcare.

He was born Sept. 14, 1928, to Edgar and Ethel Nettrour Newcomer. On June 16, 1945, in Bremen, he married Helen M. Heminger, who survives.

A lifetime Nappanee resident, he was the owner/operator of Arrow Motor Homes. He attended Nappanee High School. He built the first log-type home in Nappanee, and Newcomer Street in Nappanee was named after him. He was a member of Living Gospel Church, Nappanee.

Surviving are three sons, Terry A. and Larry L. Newcomer, both of Nappanee, and Michael L. Newcomer, Bremen; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 8 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Cremation will occur. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.

Calling is one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
