SYRACUSE - Jewell Topp, 89, of Bluffton, passed away Dec. 18, 2010, in Bluffton Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 17, 1921, in Pansey, Ala., to Wyatt and Rosa Herndon Godfrey. On Sept. 17, 1977, she married Dale Topp, who survives.

She lived in Syracuse from 1997 until January 2010, when they moved to Bluffton. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Syracuse.

Also surviving are a daughter, Tammy Gardner, Park Ridge, Ill.; two sons, Allen (and spouse Jan) Mumford and Spencer (and spouse Judy) Mumford, all of Florida; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters: Darlene (and spouse Terry) Risner, Rensselaer; Dolores (and spouse Keith) Schladenhauffem, Francesville; and Denise (and spouse Mike) Akers, Greenwood; two stepsons, Duane (and spouse Karin) Topp, Upper Saddle River, N.J., and Dean (and spouse Angie) Topp, Bluffton; and 12 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jill; a stepdaughter, Trina; and nine brothers and sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, officiated by the Rev. Mark Eastway of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.

Calling is two hours prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
