He was born Oct. 2, 1940, in Warsaw to Jesse Wayne and Lucille Irene Waggoner Miller. On Oct. 23, 1965, in North Webster he married Marsha Lou Shock, who survives.
He was a 1959 graduate of Warsaw High School. He entered the U.S. Army Dec. 18, 1959, at Fort Ben Harrison. He served as a quarter master in Turkey, and SP4 Jesse David Miller was honorably discharged Dec. 14, 1962 from Fort Devens, Mass.
He was a tool and die maker at Bentler's in Goshen for 15 years, retiring in 2005. He attended North Webster Church of the Brethren, Warsaw USBC Bowling Association, and he was inducted into the Warsaw Bowling Hall of Fame in 1991.
Also surviving are a son, David Joe Miller, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Amy (and spouse B.J.) Estep, Etna Green; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a sister, Joan (and spouse Dario) Ascensio, Liberal, Kan.; two sisters-in-law, Sandy and Arlene Miller, Warsaw; and a brother-in-law, Robert Smith, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his mother, who died June 6, 2008; three brothers: James Miller, who died Oct. 21, 1994; John Miller, who died July 25, 2001; Melvin Miller, who died Aug. 10, 2006; and a sister, Sharon Smith, who died Aug. 14, 1981.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Bob Jarboe, Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126.
