NORTH MANCHESTER - Jerry W. Coble, 70, of Indianapolis, and formerly of North Manchester, died at 6:15 a.m. Nov. 14, 2008, in his residence.

He was born Oct. 7, 1938, in Servia, to Clidth O. and Eunice Marie Montel Coble. On Aug. 15, 1959, he married Judy K. Smith, who survives.

He worked at Erie Lackawana Railroad from 1973-76, Conrail from 1976-99, and was a track inspector for CSX Railroad from 1999 until retirement in 2005. He was a member of Westlake Church of God, Indianapolis.

Also surviving are two sons, Jerry Keith (and spouse Mary) Coble, Warsaw, and Rodney Lee (and spouse Kristy) Coble, Indianapolis; a daughter, Christal Kay (and spouse Tony) Massey, Greenwood; two brothers, Donald Eugene (and spouse Rosalie) Coble, Port Orford, Ore., and Larry Dean (and spouse Karen) Coble, Warsaw; a stepbrother, Wayne Marshall, Warsaw; four sisters: Bernace Nordman, Warsaw; Joyce (and spouse Jack) Hicks, Pierceton; Linda (and spouse David) Cripe, Sidney; and Eunice (and spouse Oscar) Robinson, North Manchester; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from noon to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
