Jerry L. Priest, 66, of 11511 Blue Warbler Drive, Fort Myers, Fla., died at 4:10 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008, in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Nov. 24, 1941, in Elwood, to Harry and Martha Ebert Priest. On Dec. 1, 1973, in Warsaw, he married Sue Elliott, who survives.

Living in Warsaw since 1973, he moved to Fort Myers in 1993, and was a summer resident of Pierceton. He was a towmotor operator at General Motors, Anderson, for 28-1/2 years, retiring in 1993. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960-1964, attaining the rank of corporal (E-4).

Also surviving are two daughters, Lynne Susaraba, Warsaw, and Joni Elliott, Silver Lake; two sons, Tony (and wife Cindy) Elliott, Warsaw, and Jimmie (and wife Suzi) Elliott, Speedway; a brother, Bill Priest, Brunswick, Ga.; a sister, Linda Bennett, Alexandria; five granddaughters: Lauren Susaraba, Tiara and Krista Cochran and Cortney and Tanner Elliott; six grandsons: Christopher Susaraba, Scott Cochran, Tristen Weicht, Brandon Elliott and Ryan and Jack Lowe; and seven great-grandchildren, Camden, Caden, Caitlyn, Isaac, Mikayla, Marrissa and Teegan.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with Pastor Skip Hartman officiating, and with military honors by member of American Legion Post 40 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126.

No calling is planned.
