He was born March 23, 1944, in Linton, Greene County, to Richard Theodore and Rachel Mae Riggle Landis. On Dec. 26, 1981, in Winona Lake, he married Ginger McCullough, who survives in Leesburg.
He was a graduate of Midland High School, class of 1962. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict, and was stationed in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1970.
He was a retired tool and die maker and had worked for Chore Time Brock, Milford, with nearly 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved working on vintage tractors, especially old Fords. He was a member of Echos of the Past tractor club and attended Leesburg United Methodist Church. Above all, he was a devoted family man to whom his children and grandchildren were everything.
Also surviving are three sons: Ron (and spouse Kathy) Landis and Scott Landis, all of Warsaw; Michael (and spouse Tara) Strieby, Cromwell; three daughters: Amy Comadoll, Clunette; Sheri Easley, Shawnee, Okla.; Rachale (and spouse Joseph) Emerson, Calvin Center, Mich.; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rex (and spouse Geneva) Landis, New Castle, and Dave (and spouse Ellie) Landis, Bean Blossom; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Donnie, Paul and Richard Landis; and two sisters, Betty Stuck and Evelyn Turley.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Rob Seewald, Leesburg United Methodist Church, officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126 in Leesburg Cemetery.
