She was born Oct. 12, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., to Harold and Thelma Lutts Jeffries. On June 24, 1950, in Bryan, Ohio, she married Harry E. Wells, who died Feb. 6, 2004.
She came to the Bourbon and Etna Green area in 1966. After she graduated high school, she continued her education in business at college in New York. She was a homemaker and retired from Orthopedic Equipment Company in 1984.
She and her husband were very faithful members of the Bourbon Bible Church where she taught Sunday school and was past president of the Women’s Missionary Group. She was the organist and pianist for the church for many years and even taught beginning piano. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, gardening and her family.
Surviving are her four children: David L. (and spouse Linda) Wells, Papakeechie Lake; Deb (and spouse Jerry) Fink, Tippecanoe; Stephanie Wells, Bourbon; and Jon (and spouse Teresa) Wells, Nappanee. She was further blessed with six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Beverly Kennedy, Sebring, Fla.; and her brother, Robert Jeffries, Star Lake, N.Y. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bourbon Bible Church, 2002 12th Road, Bourbon, with Pastor Larry Goss of the church officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Parks Cemetery, Bourbon.
Calling is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St. Bourbon, is in charge of arrangements.
