He was born Nov. 28, 1956, in Indianapolis to Nancy and Joe Pirtle.
He had a positive and happy outlook on life as he spent the last few years in a battle against heart failure.
As a young man, he was an active member of Irvington Methodist Church. He was a 1975 graduate of Warren Central where he was an all-county fullback and was selected as Marion County Christian Athlete of the Year by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He went to DePauw University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, captain of the football team as well as a four year starter. He graduated in 1979.
He was the founder and owner of several small businesses. He later worked for the city of Indianapolis as a consultant to Mayor Steve Goldsmith. He then worked for the state of Indiana as a consultant to Gov. Mitch Daniels. He was a Navy veteran and a captain in the Indiana National Guard.
As a college student, he worked summers at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club and fell in love with lake living. After an early retirement, he moved to Lake Tippecanoe and lived there until illness forced him back to Indianapolis. He was loved and had many friends and will be missed by each and all.
Survivors are: his parents, Nancy and Joe; two brothers, Doug (and spouse Shelley), Fort Myers, and Drew, Indianapolis; and dear friend, Lois McLean.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
