PIERCETON – Janet A. Perzee, 68, Pierceton, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Aug. 21, 2015, at I.U. Goshen Hospital, Goshen.
She was born June 2, 1947, in Pontiac, Ill., to Gilbert and Ferne Stalter Yordy. On June 28, 1969, in Eureka, Ill., she married Thomas L. “Tom” Perzee, who survives in Pierceton.
She graduated in 1965 from Eureka High School, Eureka, Ill.; in 1969 from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill.; received her master’s degree from Indiana Purdue University, Fort Wayne; and her Reading Recovery Teachers Certification from Purdue University. She moved to the North Webster/Pierceton area in 1987 from South Bend.
She retired in 2014 from Wawasee Community School Corp. as a Reading Interventionist and former Reading Recovery teacher leader/trainer. She had also taught in Cedar Lake, Tenn. and Pennsylvania for a total of 34 years in teaching. She and her husband were camp directors for Camp Good News near North Webster and are the owners/operators of Mel’s Pony Rides and Petting Zoo, Pierceton. She formerly attended Pleasant View Bible Church, Warsaw.
Also surviving are a sister, Mary Alice (and spouse Kent) Elliott, Sunset Beach, Mo.; a brother, David (and spouse Marilyn) Yordy, DeKalb, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three infant sons – James, Timothy and Paul Perzee – and a brother.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster, with Arthur Blaker of Send International officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County in Warsaw with burial to take place at a later date in the Lowell Memorial Cemetery,  Lowell.
Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
