MENTONE - Jane S. Waddle New, 72, of 103 S. Buffalo St., Burket, died at 1:30 a.m. Jan. 4, 2008, at her residence. She had been in failing health for nine months.

She was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Whitley County, to John and Alice Walsh Groves. She married Homer Waddle, who died. On May 5, 1990, she married George S. New, who preceded her in death July 30, 1999.

She was a homemaker. She retired from Black Oxide, Burket. She loved painting and crafts.

Surviving are five daughters: Alma (and spouse Terry) Neidig, Bourbon; Laura (and spouse Mike) Norton, Palestine Lake, Claypool; Robin (and spouse Tony) Foreman, Warsaw; Ginger (and spouse Roger) White, Claypool; Callie (and spouse Ricky) Deeter, Pierceton; three sons: Rusty (and spouse Edna) Waddle, Tippecanoe; Scott Waddle, Mentone; Phillip (and spouse Jenny) Waddle, Akron; a grandson, Jason (and spouse Angela) Waddle, Warsaw; two brothers, Jim (and spouse Ruthie) Groves, Fort Wayne, and Pat Groves, Auburn; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, a grandson, a great-grandson and a brother.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Pastor Mark Zerkel officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery, Palestine.

Calling is from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
