SYRACUSE - Jane Baumgartner Redmond, 60, of Indianapolis, passed away in her sleep July 28, 2008. Surrounded by family, her struggle with breast cancer ended peacefully as she overlooked Lake Wawasee.

She was born June 15, 1948, to Arch and Della Baumgartner. She married Ralph Redmond, who survives.

She graduated from Milford High School in 1966, attended Indiana University and received a master's degree in education from Butler University. She was an avid bicyclist and loved to ride the Monon Trail. She retired from Acton Elementary (Franklin Township) in January. She taught special education.

Also surviving are her mother, Della Baumgartner; her brother, Ron Baumgartner; a son, Jason Yoder; and a grandson, Elias Craig Yoder. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Craig Yoder, who died May 14, 2006.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Meridian Street United Methodist Church.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel.

Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, is in charge of local arrangements.
